One of the big switches that lets Flickr talk to the outside world went on vacation without telling anyone about 30 minutes ago. The problem has been fixed and we’re wobbling our way back up, but you might still see some strange behavior for the next 10-20 minutes.
Actual photo serving wasn’t affected so any photos you were showing elsewhere (like on your blog) should have gone on happily showing up.

Crazy, dancing, programming, Goan.. I'm a computer geek and proud to be one. I program in Java, Ruby and .Net, PHP, Javascript. A lot of my recent work has been about CSS and UI design practices for large scale websites and Agile teams. I still while away hours dreaming up a web startup.

But .. as fate would have it, I could not access Flickr. Was it my terrible Sify internet line that was to blame ? Was it my DNS setting ? well.. uh. No. It was Flickr.
From the Flickr Blog
Well, I like the hordes of people out there, love Flickr, and this will certainly not dent that affection in any way. Must take a couple of seconds her to note that they responded to the issue with a blog post within a minutes of the failure, and the whole time, mages continued to be served up just as normal. Amazing work Flickr guys.
Update: looks like they are going to be down a little longer. But at least they started serving a message on hitting Flickr.com
